We are looking for a customer focused, client driven person, with a business-oriented mindset, to join our Human Resources (HR) team in Houston, TX, and partner with us as we transform to better serve our internal clients – our employees.
The HR Business Partner plays a critical, strategic role and provides leadership and direction to assigned groups regarding Human Resource planning, development and optimization of programs and solutions. This role is responsible for partnering with the Center of Excellence (COE) in delivering a range of HR services geared towards enhancing the contribution of human capital required to achieve the short, medium, and long-term objectives in conjunction with ENGIE’s overall business strategies. The role will support designated groups based in Houston, TX and other ENGIE North America office locations.
This role reports to the Head of HR Business Partnership & Talent and will sit in Houston, TX. The role is eligible for our hybrid work-from-home and in-office work schedule.
Essential Job Functions
- Serve as an HR advisor by providing coaching and guidance to managers and counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and programs
- Facilitate communication and information sharing within the organization and promote understanding of programs, policies, and objectives along with developing positive employee engagement
- Partner with business leaders to manage and resolve employee relations issues, including managing performance, in accordance with company policies, processes and procedures
- Recommend new innovative approaches, policies, and procedures in effort to continuously improve employee engagement while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Provide strategic coaching to employees and leaders as related to succession planning, career path development, and performance management
- In partnership with the COE, lead talent assessment across designated groups, identifying key employee strengths and development needs to recognize and develop key talent, create strong talent pipeline, and select the best candidates for open positions
- Actively support strategies for identification, development, and engagement of high performing diverse talent to enhance organization effectiveness
- In partnership with the COE, lead succession planning and talent development strategies for designated groups, identifying critical roles and preparing potential talent and pipelines mentoring, training, and other initiatives
- Work with leaders and COE to facilitate the smooth onboarding and off boarding of employees, including the review of exit interview data and providing recommendations on organizational improvements
- Partner with COE to manage leaves of absences in accordance with company policy and applicable Federal/State laws/regulations
- Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies and improve effectiveness of HR processes
- Conduct investigations, audits and/or assessments to ensure consistency and compliance with all Federal and State laws and regulations
- Acts as the HR Project Manager for acquisitions and divestures by representing HR to internal and external stakeholders
- Supports the talent aspects of organizational structure changes such as talent integration related to mergers & acquisitions
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related area
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources or similar role with progressive responsibility
- Professional Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) active certification is preferred
- Demonstrated experience in making sound strategic HR decisions and assessing talent
- Ability to work in changing environments, see through complexity and strategically promote an inclusive / diverse workforce
- Confidence to voice opinions and ideas while remaining open to new ideas, and the willingness to deliver tough feedback/coaching to leadership
- Humility to work as part of a team and identity and admit mistakes with the intent of learning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to assess situations make judgments based on practice or previous experience
- Excellent collaboration, project management, organizational and change agent skills
- Ability to energize and lead in complex, matrix, goal-driven organizations.
- Working knowledge of HR-related laws, regulations
- Strong written/oral communication skills, effective presentation, and facilitation abilities
Additional Information/Conditions:
- Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
- Must be available to travel domestically on limited occasions with the need for some overnight trips up to 15%
- A valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for travel and car rentals
- Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

- Salary Range: USD $69,275.00-$176,670.00, annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
- In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan
