Apache Camping Center - Happy Valley, OR | HR Generalist
Apache Camping Center, Inc. is seeking a skilled Corporate Human Resources Generalist for their Happy Valley, OR location to oversee its 4 locations throughout the Northwest.
As an HR department of one, you will perform duties at the professional level and work closely with the Board of Directors. This position carries out a broad scope of responsibilities in the following functional areas: Payroll, employment law compliance, full life cycle recruitment and offboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, leave administration, occupational health & safety, and policy implementation.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a Generalist role in HR.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Strong computer and general technology skills.
- Desires to and excels in working independently.
- Prior experience with Paychex is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in an HR-related field or 4+ years' HR experience.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook/work rules and/or the policies.
- Responds to inquiries on topics including but not limited to: employee relations, benefits plans, leaves (FMLA/OFLA/WFLA/ADA), employee communications, and payroll issues.
- Process, track and file various human resource items such as employment claims, 401k elections, compensation changes, job transfers and employee performance.
- Organizes and maintains all employee/personnel files and other files as required to maintain compliance.
- Assists with new hire benefits enrollment and annual open enrollment. Provides benefit information/explanations as required
- Processes bi-weekly payroll through Paychex. Records and tracks PTO use and accrual.
- Analyzes current policies and procedures, suggests improvements, and communicates policies to employees.
- Works closely with store management and suggests strategic initiatives to improve processes.
- Stays up to date with federal, state (Oregon and Washington), and local employment laws and provides compliance information to the Board of Directors.
- Completes ad-hoc projects, reporting, and tasks as required.

Additional Information
- Hours are somewhat flexible, but will be around the time of a standard work day (M-F, 9-5). Coming in earlier and leaving earlier is an option.
- This position is based in Happy Valley, Oregon but will require occasional travel to the greater Seattle area. (less than 10%).
- Candidates must be willing to submit to a background check and possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
