We are looking for a highly energetic, dynamic Human Resources Generalist to support our organization in the Americas for HR-related matters specific to manufacturing.

Based out of our offices in Wood Dale, Illinois, this role reports into the Human Resources Director for the Americas and involves great challenges and career growth.

The ideal candidate will have experience performing HR-related duties on a professional level, working closely with senior HR management, internal and external stakeholders.

The Human Resources Generalist will be actively involved in the following functional areas:

  • Employee relations
  • Performance management
  • On-boarding/Off-boarding
  • Policy implementation
  • Employment law compliance

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Generalist will:


  • Work closely with management and team members to drive and sustain culture initiatives that focus on engaged employees, positive work environment, increased productivity and retention.
  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for the organization; assist in the development and implementation of policies and is actively involved in maintaining the employee handbook.
  • Manage employee relations to ensure a consistent application of policy and practices, including coaching/counseling, employee investigations, progressive discipline and problem resolution.
  • Monitor the performance management process and program.
  • Identify common trends and issues related to individual development needs among employees and partners with management and line staff to develop and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct new employee orientations; monitor on the job and other training programs.
  • Maintain employee information, personnel records, and HR files. Processes employee data in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and compile reports from the database.
  • Maintain ongoing, up-to-date knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations. Educates and informs managers and employees on current labor laws and business impact. Ensures compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Support local safety initiatives with EH&S.
  • Look for continuous improvement opportunities of historical programs or simplifying HR processes.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees based on trust and credibility.
  • Ensure positive company image.
  • Assist employees with payroll related issues.
  • Assist with benefit related issues and administration.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Emphasis on Human Resources, Psychology, or Business preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years work experience or equivalent work experience in HR Generalist role. HR Generalist work experiences within a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual communication skills; English and Spanish (preferred).
  • Generalist background, with broad knowledge of benefit and compensation administration, employee relations, legal compliance, safety, and training and development.
  • Proven ability to understand HR related needs within the business, engage in proactive feedback and recommend solutions.
  • Good knowledge of local statutory and legal requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an effective and active listener and have effective interpersonal, persuasive, and analytical skills. Professional communication skills across diverse cultures and managerial levels.
  • Independent and organized work style: can effectively manage time and prioritize workload, manages multiple tasks without close supervision, and consistently meets deadlines.
  • Stakeholder Management: establishes and maintains effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization and demonstrates a positive and friendly attitude in working with people.
  • Adaptability: Adapts easily to change, performs calmly under pressure and works effectively in ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information.
  • Excellent computer skills required with MS Office suite software and Outlook. Excel experience is must.
