Immediate opening for an Import Coordinator in Rancho Cucamonga, CA who possesses:

• Bachelors or AA Degree
• 1+ years' experience with Imports
• 1+ years experience with negotiations with trucking companies

FULL DESCRIPTION: To prepare import/export documents in accordance with established procedures and guidelines; to check shipping invoices for accuracy; may calculate value of duties and tariffs due on transported goods. To perform this job successfully, an individual shall be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the logistics field. This position relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The qualified candidate is required to perform a variety of tasks under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Enter shipping document information into the system in an accurate manner; generate and proofread data entry printouts for accuracy and correct discrepancies
• Track cargo movements and cargo status, including but not limited to sailing status, transit time, arriving discharge, arriving final terminal, last free dates, arriving customer door, empty return, etc.
• Track and verify status of shipping document release, ocean freight payment and customs clearance; resolve delays and other issues in a timely manner; enter or update status into the system efficiently
• Prepare documents related to cargo delivery including but not limited to dispatch order; coordinate cargo delivery by LFD to avoid demurrage and other accessorial charges
• Proactively coordinate with carriers, brokers, and customers to ensure delivery on time; continuously find ways to improve Customer Satisfaction in terms of timely delivery as well as empty pickups
• In case of diversion, proactively coordinate with carrier, corporate office, and relevant parties and ensure diversions are handled in cost effective ways and input such dates into system
• Handle shipping related claims. In case of unavoidable costs, investigate causes of current incidents, implement cost effective solutions and find preventive methods for future
• Verify transportation related invoices and enter shipping related events into the system promptly; resolve discrepancies whenever it is necessary
• Process payment or billing promptly into the system for the Finance Department to process
• Respond to customer inquiries in a prompt and courteous manner; input, verify and maintain costs in the system accurately
• Report to supervisor issues that might not be resolved independently or may cause significant impacts or costs
• Obtain competitive quotes including but not limited to transportation, storage rates, trans-loading, in a timely manner. Enter such information into the system promptly
• Provide Backup to Customs Clearance Specialist as needed
• Perform other shipping related duties as assigned by the supervisor or the company
• Perform filing duties each day to include file maintenance on a regular basis

Salary: $18-$23/hr
