Job description
Seeking individual to provide skilled patient care for 63 yo quadriplegic male with multiple sclerosis. Must assist with everything he needs to do, including performing straight catheterization to pass urine and digital stimulation for a bowel movement (will teach how to do both.)
Hours: Saturday/Sunday Late morning/Early Afternoon (9 am -1 pm usually but may be earlier occasionally)
Location: King William, VA. - 30 miles NE of Richmond, 20 minutes E of Mechanicsville. near Central Garage & King William High School.
Job Expectations:
- Assist with all activities of daily living, including performing urinary catheterization, digital bowel stimulation, oral suctioning, and other skilled care as needed.
- Monitors and reports changes in health status. Takes vital signs, including blood sugars, daily and as needed.
- Provides all care with compassion and safety awareness. Communicates respectfully, shares important information, and interacts pleasantly. Respects privacy and confidentiality.
- Assists in Mr. Steigleder in completion of his novels or any related work including, typing, reading aloud, researcing information on the internet, etc.
- Keeps work area clean, replenishes supplies, washes used dishes, etc.
Safety:
- Takes precautions to prevent personal exposure to infections or viruses that could place patients at risk for potential harm. Promptly reports any exposure to contagious conditions and confirms with employer precautions required for patient's safety before reporting to work.
- Fingernails cannot be longer than 1/4 in length due to danger of perforating bowel during digital stimulation procedures.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

The patient is medically high-risk. Employees must take precautions to prevent exposure to infections or viruses that they might transmit to him such as Covid, flu, or other harmful illnesses. Employees are not allowed to work while infectious.
