Kings Harbor Multicare Center is a 720 bed long term, short term, rehabilitative and sub-acute facility located in the North East Bronx near the Westchester border adjacent to 2 major highways. We are looking for an Infection Control Specialist to join our Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) team. Below are some of the responsibilities of the Infection Control Specialist:

§ Participates in the developing, maintaining, and updating of written policies and procedures that govern day-to-day activities of the Performance Improvement/ Infection Control department

§ Analyze and evaluate Performance Improvement/ Infection Control programs, policies and procedures

§ Develop, implement, review and revise Performance Improvement/ Infection Control activities within the PI/ Infection Control Program

§ Ensure compliance with government and accrediting agency standards and regulations pertaining to Performance Improvement and Infection Control

§ Plan and oversee all Performance Improvement/ Infection Control programs and evaluate program outcomes

§ Revise policies, procedures and programs as needed to improve departmental functions and to ensure the departments are meeting the needs of the resident, their family, the facility, and regulatory agencies

§ Develop, implement and monitor systems for Performance Improvement/ Infection Control documentation and record keeping necessary to maintain accountability and compliance with federal and state regulations and facility policies

The applicant is required to have the following:
§ Nursing degree from an accredited college or university. Graduation from an approved school of nursing and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Masters preferred.

§ Licensed currently in the State of New York as a registered nurse

§ Previous experience in clinical health care including direct experience in performance improvement and infection control

§ Knowledge of performance improvement protocols

§ Knowledge of regulatory requirements governing long term care facilities

Infection Control Preventionist certificate is preferred.
