As MISO’s Information Security Advisor you will be a part of protecting the systems and information that runs the bulk electric grid for 42 million people! Use your expertise to develop and implement risk-informed programs to protect critical infrastructure.

As MISO’s Information Security Advisor, you’ll provide critical input on internal controls and risk management for an enterprise information security program. In collaboration with the cyber security team and other stakeholders, you will provide expert advice and guidance on a broad spectrum of information security topics including risk management, data protection, security architecture including cloud-based solutions, security culture, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

• Be a security liaison with project teams comprised of multiple technical disciplines, including business owners, system owners, project managers and infrastructure domain experts to implement enterprise-level information technology applications
• Provide technical support to business and technology associates in security risk assessments and implementation of appropriate information security procedures, standards and technologies
• Provide technical mentorship and foster a collective understanding of data flows and security issues encountered in technology solutions and business processes
• Develop, execute and oversee information security governance processes
• Oversee development and maintenance of information security key risk metrics and organizational information security risk appetite framework
• Integrate risk-based information security activities with compliance-based information security activities

As our Information Security Advisor, we’re looking for the following experience/technical skills:

• Demonstrated ability (7-10 years of experience) in a security role
• Deep knowledge of Security Frameworks (NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, and ISO 27002) and industry standards
• Background in information security risk and information security governance
• A strong, solid grasp of managing security infrastructure — e.g. firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, web application firewalls, endpoint protection, security information and event management and log management technology
• Experience designing the deployment of applications and infrastructure into private/public cloud services
• Experience with policy and procedure development that ensures integration of security requirements
• Demonstrated ability to translate technical knowledge into business terms and present information security, process and controls, and risk topics to leadership and non-technical stakeholders
• Familiarity with cloud security frameworks
• Advanced security certification preferred, such as: CASP, GIAC, CISSP, CISM, CRISC

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
