The Information Technology Supervisor oversees the Cooperative's network, telephony systems, communications, and TWACS environments. In addition, is responsible for:

  • Coaching, mentoring, and supervising direct reports
  • Applying data analysis to proactively measure, monitor, and optimize Cooperative technology and business processes

Knowledge:

  • Enthusiastic about using data to provide strategic insights to all levels of the organization
  • Strong understanding of security principles, technologies, and best practices
  • Proficient knowledge of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), meter data management (MDM), and substation communication equipment (SCE)
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and assignments concurrently and manage deadlines
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of all cooperative technology
  • Must be familiar with standard computer concepts and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated adaptability, ability to grow, and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to work with key stakeholders across the business and deliver results
  • Ability to supervise and provide support to direct reports

Essential Functions:

  • Provide oversight for day-to day operations of direct reports, including resource coverage scheduling of daily work activities, and follow-up of escalated issues
  • Responsible for achieving team results and holding team members accountable
  • Design, monitor, and provide metrics to optimize technology performance and mitigate cyber security risk
  • Provide oversight for the development of network design and architecture to meet company security, redundancy, scalability, and performance goals
  • Provide oversight for the Cooperative's telephone system, voice-over-IP (VOIP) systems, interactive voice response (IVR) system, and other associated network software and hardware
  • Provide oversight for and monitor cyber security systems to protect data from unauthorized users
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies, and provide recommendations for technology direction and investment
  • Analyze software applications or tool implementations for implications to existing network security
  • Proactively seek to identify risks and address potential problems before they occur
  • Provide oversight for inventory, maintenance, and documentation for technology and communications life cycle processes
  • Ensure compliance with all cyber policies
  • Assist in annual budget preparation
  • Ensure appropriate licensing and certificates are in place and current
  • Provide oversight for processes and documentation to manage third party carrier requirements and relationships
  • Support department personnel and users on complex issues and all other knowledgeable areas
  • Work closely with the entire Information Technology Department to share knowledge and assist
  • Cross train on job responsibilities of direct reports and act as a back-up or provide assistance when needed


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Four-year degree in Information Technology or related field required (experience may be considered in lieu of education)


Experience:

  • Three or more years' progressive work experience in a complex, related computer environment focusing on networking, security, telecommunications, and/or data analysis.
  • Four additional years' related computer work experience or certifications may substitute for educational requirements
  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Must be willing to complete certifications and training as deemed necessary, which may include overnight travel
  • Learn and train others on new techniques and software tools
  • Extra hours may be necessary during emergencies or when the workload demands
  • Keep informed of the Cooperative's policies, plans, programs, and business model
  • Residency requirement: Must reside or be willing to relocate to within 60 minutes legal driving time to the headquarters office in Crewe, VA.

    • Use data analysis to provide support technology and business processes
    • Translate complex technology concepts and data to understandable information for all levels within the organization
    • Identify, understand, and resolve complex hardware and software needs
    • Use advanced computer technology and logic to solve complex problems
    • Meet timelines while managing multiple projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
