Position Overview:

Set the strategic direction and provide leadership for the design, engineering, and implementation of enterprise technology, solutions, systems, storage, network and telecommunications that are used as a basis for consolidating and standardizing infrastructure throughout Sutter Health and its affiliates. Interprets architecture requirements, design, product evaluations, selection, configuration, installation, testing and integration of new technology in order to better support the needs of Sutter Health and its affiliates. Effectively communicates technical solutions and designs to executive leadership.

This position will be remote but candidates will be working PST hours.

Job Description:

EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Bachelor's: Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent education/experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
4 years project management experience.
4 years proven experience in the engineering, implementation, operation, maintenance, and support of a wide range of server platforms, networking and/or storage devices.
4 years experience working with change management practices.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with clients, IS team members, management, and executive personnel/staff.

  • Verbal and writing skills to effectively communicate with diverse groups such as: executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in designing and implementing Cisco and Palo Alto Network Firewalls

  • Strong knowledge of secure VPN network connectivity for teleworkers and remote users

  • Experience with DLP, IPS, and other security applications and platforms

  • Experience with network security technologies, such as SSL/TLS, IPsec, VPN, and IDS/IPS

  • Familiarity with network protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and HTTP

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Industry certifications such as CCNP Security, PCNSE, CISSP, or CISM are highly desirable

  • 6 years project management experience.

  • 6 years proven experience in the engineering, implementation, operation, maintenance, and support of a wide range of server platforms, networking and/or storage devices.

  • 6 years’ experience working with change management practices.

  • In-depth knowledge of designing and implementing a Zero-Trust Network Architecture, including segmentation.

  • Hands-on experience in deploying and managing Next-Generation Firewalls, including the Palo Alto Networks Firewall platform and Cisco Firewalls.

  • Knowledge of deploying and managing security controls within a cloud environment.

  • Familiarity with network security controls, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Network Access Control (NAC), Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), and Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW).

  • Ability to lead and perform hands-on troubleshooting via command line or GUI interface for high-priority outages involving multiple internal teams, vendors, providers, and leadership.

  • Design, implement and manage firewalls from Cisco and Palo Alto Networks to ensure network security

  • Provide secure VPN network connectivity for teleworkers and remote users

  • Manage and maintain firewall policies, rules, and configurations in compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement and troubleshoot complex network security solutions

  • Analyze and respond to security events and incidents in a timely manner

  • Monitor and analyze network traffic for anomalies and proactively identify potential security risks

  • Provide expertise and guidance on the use of DLP, IPS, and other security applications and platforms

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and emerging security threats and technologies

  • Participate in security assessments and audits, including vulnerability assessments and penetration testing

  • Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures, security policies and guidelines, and network diagrams

Pay Range: $55.42 - $83.13 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
