LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
The Helper is responsible to assist the Operator in all areas of manufacturing a quality product as efficiently as possible. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing and loading of empty bobbins/reels, pulling completed bobbins/reels of wire from the take-up, retrieving raw materials, loading completed bobbins/reels into the storage racks, change out copper and aluminum reels, assist in setting up the line on changeovers and after wire breaks, assist in scrapping defective wire, and generally support the Operator in the continuous operation of the Insulating line, as well as, performing routine housekeeping duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist to prepare, load, unload, and store process bobbins/reels. Complete bobbins/reel inspections prior to loading.
- Locate and retrieve raw materials and assist in loading them as the process requires. Interpret set up sheets.
- Assist in disposition of non-conforming products.
- Observe material and insulated wire while line is running and alert the Operator if line is running out of tolerance.
- Operate print string printer and ink jet printer, footage meter operation and monitoring, take-up accumulator operation and the Skaltek UX30 take-up. Ensure proper tension of take-up.
- Perform OD measurements, wall thickness measurements and Spark Tester Operations.
- Assist Operator in setting up line for product changeovers, switch bobbins/reels during run, and after wire breaks.
- Assist in maintaining a clean work area (general housekeeping).
- Operate Material Handling equipment. (Fork Truck Training/Certification)
- Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Read, write, perform mathematical calculations, understand verbal or written instructions, provide verbal or written information to others, work continuous shift if requested, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, work well with others, and distinguish colors correctly.
- To move about freely in a heavy industrial environment. Must be able to qualify as a lift operator.
- This position requires standing and walking for most of the shift. This position requires lifting, bending, pushing and pulling. Some pushing of bobbins/reels will be necessary. Most lifting is accomplished with material handling devices, i.e. bobbins/reels movers, hoists, etc.
- Ability to hear; excessive noise level may require the use of hearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), other PPEs required: safety glasses and steel toed safety shoes, and/or other PPE as needed by the task being performed.
COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
- OJT - Will use company systems – SAP
