Job Description

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The IT Security Analyst is responsible for providing support and management to the IT security function college wide by proactively ensuring that technologies encompassing endpoint security, data integrity, and identity management are configured and maintained according to Reynolds and VCCS security requirements. Duties of this position also involve championing enterprise applications to audit and support security procedures for enterprise applications such as SIS, AIS, HRMS/HCM, Cardinal, and eVA. The IT Security Analyst will also develop and maintain the Business Impact Analysis, System and Network Infrastructure Risk Assessments, Disaster Recovery Plan, and annual and quarterly audits, along with policy and standard operating procedures for systems and infrastructure. System administration duties of the position include, but are not limited to, tiers 1 and 2 support of Microsoft Servers, support staff from the Computing Support/Help Desk team with creating and managing Group Policy and Active Directory necessary for the support, implementation, patch management, and maintenance of computers at the college.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.



KSA's/Required Qualifications
Considerable working knowledge of and experience with endpoint security technologies and systems, including anti-virus and endpoint detection and response suites, full disk encryption, and two-factor authentication (MFA). Demonstrated ability to use enterprise tools for vulnerability scanning, risk analysis, and mitigation. Demonstrated ability to use enterprise tools for creating, packaging, and deploying software in a Windows environment. Demonstrated ability to interpret scripts for troubleshooting, system configurations, and parsing data. Experience with management and reporting of enterprise patching, policy creation, and directory services within a Windows environment as well as Office365. Demonstrated ability to learn new software and champion its deployment in an organization. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and prioritize tasks independently without supervision. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through verbal and/or written communication and to work with a diverse group of individuals. Demonstrated skill and experience with managing enterprise endpoint tools, imaging, software packaging, and patching; experience creating and interpreting multiple scripting languages (PowerShell, Batch, etc.); and ability to perform Tier 1 & 2 servers and infrastructure support. Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and communicate and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion. Ability to work independently when given unfamiliar tasks to complete, only requesting assistance when there is no known precedent to the given situation or an unforeseen issue arises. Graduation from high school supplemented by training in computer information systems or a related area is required.

Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or a related area is preferred. A security credential such as CompTIA Security+ is also preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of VCCS and Virginia’s security standards, policy and procedure is also preferred.
