Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is a rapidly growing, venture-backed veterinary emergency company with hospital locations across the USA. We are profitable, doubling our annual size, and supported by multiple investors. Our mission is to help people and their pets when they need it most. We are changing the face of emergency veterinary medicine with a "customer first" mentality. We anticipate having 60+ locations by the end of 2023.
THE ROLE'S MISSION
We're seeking an experienced systems administrator who's eager to further develop their technical skills on a worldwide stage. This person will protect our critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in developing our overall IT strategy. We aim to develop and build upon the Cloud Infrastructure at VEG and establish a reliable and consistent process for providing outstanding technical support to our VEGgies.

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE
- Proven success in an IT role
- Expertise in analyzing and repairing large-scale distributed systems, creating volumes and assigning them to server, and remote replication
- Experience in project management, application design and integration, and cloud computing (specifically AWS)
- Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, systems performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills
- Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with multiple business partners to identify opportunities and drive engagement
- Ability to prioritize work tasks and stay organized
- Process-oriented. Able to pivot quickly and adapt to change rapidly
- Demonstrated conflict management and resolution experience
- Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting skills in a SaaS-based environment
- Knowledge of modern Cloud Infrastructure, for example:
- Okta
- Google Workspace
- FreshService
- Meraki
- MDM platforms (Airwatch, Jamf, Intune. etc..)
- A forward-thinking, positive attitude!
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO
- Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, and security updates; support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
- Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root causes and provide technical support when needed.
- Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups
- Partner with other teams in IT and across multiple departments within VEG to create new user experiences that enhance employee productivity
- Manage, develop & create content and strategies for our support helpdesk and internal/external knowledge base
- Set up, develop, drive, manage, and continuous improvements across processes
- Regularly confers with the Head of IT Infrastructure regarding prospective system changes and future needs.
- Complete additional tasks/projects as needed.
- Regularly works on any assigned tickets that are escalated from the Support Desk team.
- Perform server administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly
- Monitor data-center health using existing management tools, and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new cloud servers.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience
