Job Coach (Skills Trainer) for Project LIFE

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Duty Days: 189 (Full-time)
Description :
Skills Trainers are responsible for assisting students throughout the day under the direction and support of the Project LIFE Instructor. The primary role of this position is to provide vocational training to interns in the community job site setting.
Essential Functions (not all encompassing):
Ensure safety of students;
Provide support during classroom instruction and independent living activities;
Willingness to learn a variety of entry level job skills in collaboration with community business partners;
Utilize effective written and oral communication skills;
Maintain regular communication with the teacher, students, co-workers and business partners;
Instruct and assess student learning of job skills in the work environment at a ratio of no more than 1:5;
Maintain high standards of ethics, honesty and integrity in all matters;
Utilize a weekly Job Skill Assessment Report to assess student learning;
Engage in problem-solving concerns with and for student progress while meeting the expectations of job site management;
Provide supervision of students as assigned;
Be a positive role model and advocate in all settings;
Develop effective relationships with staff and the community by collaborating to provide services efficiently, communicating clearly, and providing effective service;
Arrive on time to work each regular work day;
Be in attendance every regular school day, excluding long-term illnesses, maternity/ paternity leaves, and other unique circumstances;
Maintain confidentiality of student and other information;
Maintain appropriate grooming and business casual attire;
Be willing and able to devote the time and effort necessary to do the job effectively;
Possess an understanding of how to support learning for teens and young adults with a variety of disabilities;
Responsible for developing and providing accommodations in the workplace;
Assisting with the learning of independent living skills;
Promote positive work habits in students;

QUALIFICATIONS (not all encompassing):
High school diploma;
Appropriate educational aide licensure through the Ohio Department of Education;
Willingness and ability to work with students and as a team member;
Experience working with students in a vocational setting preferred;
Valid driver’s license;
Documented evidence of acceptable criminal record as required by Ohio law and Board Policy;
