Job description
The County of Riverside's Department of Waste Resources has an opportunity for a Junior Engineer in Moreno Valley. The Junior Engineer will perform professional engineering work in the office and field with a 9/80 M-F schedule.
The incumbent will be responsible for reading and interpreting field survey data to prepare topographic contour maps, perform engineering calculations, and prepare reports and plans in support of public works construction projects. The Junior Engineer will occasionally assist in construction inspections, collect soil samples for lab testing, and may prepare Title V facility compliance reports.
Competitive candidates will have experience in landfill, groundwater, air quality, landfill gas engineering, and be familiar with engineering software such as MicroStation/InRoads, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Trimble R8 GPS and associated mapping software.
In addition, the most competitive candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, as well as a valid certificate as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Candidates who possess engineering internship experience or who are graduating this Spring are encouraged to apply.
The Junior Engineer is a natural progression underfill for the Assistant Engineer. Incumbents are eligible to promote to Assistant Engineer upon successful completion of their probationary period, which would include a satisfactory performance evaluation and any additional qualification requirements.
