Laboratory Technician Part-Time - Burch-Smith
Job description
The Burch-Smith Lab is looking for a full-time laboratory technician to support the current team of researchers. Lab technician duties would include performing transient plant transformation, confocal microscopy, molecular analyses like PCR, and related data analysis and collection. The ideal candidate will be able to manage a variety of tasks, work independently and accomplish duties within assigned working hours.
Scientific Focus and Job Function:
The Laboratory Technician in the Burch-Smith Lab will be responsible for plant infiltrations, confocal microscopy, and molecular analyses like PCR as well as relevant data analysis.
Key Position Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Plant infiltrations
- Confocal microscopy
- Molecular biology experiments (PCR and qPCR)
- Ability to learn biological, chemical, and physical analyses
- Manage a variety of tasks and accomplish duties within assigned working hours
- Data analysis and presentation
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Effective writing and communication skills, meticulous record keeping
- Good communication with team members

Qualifications:
- Prior laboratory experience is required.
- B.Sc. in a relevant bachelor’s program (e.g. Biology) is required
