Job description
The University of Maryland, Baltimore's Department of Psychiatry, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in partnership with the National Center for School Mental Health has an exciting opportunity for two (2) full-time, Lead Clinical Research Specialist. This position will support the evaluation of several children’s mental health initiatives with a focus on advancing comprehensive school mental health systems, or focus on supporting comprehensive school mental health training and technical assistance to school districts and states. This position is responsible for overseeing the management of day-to-day clinical research operations; leading study initiation, execution, and completion; developing research protocols; and conducting advanced data analyses and project reporting.

Essential Functions

Lead the highest technical research and guides research programs, projects, and activities in a clinical setting. Responsible for ensuring design, development, documentation and implementation of research procedures and protocols using a variety of complex activities. Networks with faculty and staff to achieve strategic goals and maximize efficiency.

Develop, recommend, modify, and implement policies, procedures, and/or methods for clinical research and evaluation to meet changing needs and requirements and enforces standards..

Coordinate and participate in the design of protocol manuals, education materials, evaluation and data collection instruments, and training materials.

Lead the management and analysis of clinical research data to include data analysis using statistical software, data collection, data entry, data verification, and ensure compliance and clinical relevance of data. Assists in the development and implementation of site tracking tools to comply with data monitoring requirements per federal regulations and guidance.

Perform administrative duties such as monitoring the annual budget and ensuring compliance with quality control, security, and safety procedures.

Prepare or assist with the preparation of manuscripts, scientific illustrations, journal articles and grant proposals, as well as other products to disseminate project information to a wide range of stakeholders such as schools, community members and agencies, research partners, funders, and behavioral health consumers.

Provide working coordination and feedback to others. Supervise clinical research interns.

Trains and provides mentoring to other research personnel in implementation of research protocols, IRB submissions, research procedures and policies, etc. Serves as subject matter expert and provides guidance for staff, faculty, and leadership.

The Hiring Range for this position is in the mid $70,000s to mid $80,000s, commensurate with education and experience.

Education: Bachelor's degree in epidemiology, sociology, psychology, nursing or field of study related to the behavioral health research clinic. Master's or PhD preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years of clinical research including three (3) years in the relevant research specialization.
Other: Master's degree in related field may be substituted for two (2) years of related experience.
