Lead Computed Tomography (CT) Scan Technologist Position Summary:

This position has limited functional responsibility for individual Imaging Departments (Nuclear Medicine, and/or CT Scanning) during normal working hours. Responsibilities include: Maintaining daily patient schedule and workload within department; conducts operational problem solving processes to insure a uniform clinical outcome for department. Maintains appropriate staff schedule based on activity levels. Foster and promotes good communication between management, staff, physicians, internal/external departments as well as the community at large. Responsible for the data entry and verification of staff hours in the API system. Maintain high quality diagnostic skills/competency within their respective areas of responsibility.

A Day in the Life of a Lead CT Scan Technologist at MyMichigan Health:

  • (60%)* Performs all technical duties/procedures in respective area. Starts I.V.’s as necessary; Monitor patient during imaging procedure. Reviews and documents appropriate patient information. Maintains working knowledge of imaging equipment and radiology information systems. Oversees the development of departmental policies and procedures
  • (25%)* Provides leadership and guidance to department. Maintains open inter-departmental communication to ensure quality customer care, service and Radiation Safety. Consults with Radiologists concerning procedural protocols and quality.
  • (15%)* Maintains patient schedule on a daily basis. Maintains staff work schedule based on daily workload.

Requirements We Are Looking For:

  • Associate Degree required
  • ARRT registry or registry required within two years of hire.
  • ARRT CT required within three years of hire.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains employee time records;
  • Assists department manager with interviewing and selection of replacement staff.
  • Trains staff as necessary; provides feedback to department manager on staff performance.
  • Documents, updates, verify and complete all patient demographic and clinical information in RIS, PACS, and Cerner (EMR).
