What you’ll do:
Working on the Product Development team in the Professional Services group at HMH, the Lead Instructional Designer will be responsible for the following primary duties: researching, designing, and developing professional learning content and experiences for K–12 educators in multiple modalities, including in-person and online facilitator-led sessions and asynchronous modules. This person is responsible for collaborating with product teams and analyzing customer feedback to draft requirements and design professional learning with a strong product-market fit that meets identified learning outcomes to support teachers, with a primary focus on coaching and mathematics. This person must be highly adept at quickly building knowledge and expertise around K-12 curricula, platforms, and instructional practices, as well as working collaboratively in scrum teams to design learning experiences that maximize interactivity and engagement in an online or in-person environment. The Lead Instructional Designer will also periodically facilitate live sessions in order to prototype the experiences developed and document how they are received, and any adjustments or modifications needed.
What you’ll need:
Minimum 5 year(s) of experience: in product/services development or instructional design or curriculum development focused on K-12 education.
Bachelor’s degree
Teaching experience, preferably in math
Knowledge of current trends, research, competitive products, and instructional focus areas in K–12 education and professional learning
Strong project planning and operational skills (e.g. proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google apps)
Experience designing and developing in-person and asynchronous professional learning using a variety of tools (e.g., Articulate suite, Camtasia, Google suite, etc. )
Experience facilitating professional learning in both face to face and online environments.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with peers, subordinates, and senior management with ease.
Adaptability and aptitude to learn new technologies and methodologies for instructional design, including lean/agile and scrum.
Nice to Have:
Experience coaching teachers, experience with HMH or Heinemann programs.
