Responsible for providing support to the Food and Beverage Department by maintaining the cleanliness of all kitchen equipment, china, glassware, flatware, and back-of-house work area. Maintains the food storeroom and executes special projects under the direction of the Executive Chef. May also set up public areas and help in dining area as requested by management. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a safety sensitive position.


Principal Accountabilities / Essential Job Functions:
  • Assists with training and development of staff when needed.
  • Cleans kitchen area including:
  • Ware washing and storage
  • Pot washing
  • Deep cleaning of kitchen and equipment
  • Performs storeroom maintenance including:
  • Receive, store, issue food items from storeroom
  • Rotate stock in storeroom
  • Maintain cleanliness of storeroom
  • Delivers food and beverage carts to appropriate areas as needed.
  • Performs general "heavy labor" as required by Executive Chef.
  • Completes set-up work for special events.
  • Complies with all sanitation policies and procedures such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).
  • Performs duties in a timely and efficient manner and on a schedule determined by kitchen and dining operations.


Requirements
Key Competencies:
  • Able to perform strenuous physical labor, lifting, etc.
  • Proficient in all Kitchen Attendant functions, in all areas of the community.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to articulate tasks and ability to perform on the job orientation of new employees.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and follow-through/follow-up with the Kitchen Attendants and the Chefs.
  • Uses discretion in handling confidential information, incorporating all federal, state and local privacy and confidentiality requirements.
  • Maintains a courteous and professional manner with staff, residents and guests.
  • Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults and enjoy working with a senior population.
Education and Experience:
  • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred.
  • Work Experience: Prior experience that illustrates dependability is preferred.
  • Licensure / Certification: Possess or be willing and able to obtain Food Handlers certification, as required. Must possess a valid and current driver's license, where applicable.

Compensation:

$17.80-$20.90
