The Lead Supervisor is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining site premises and is responsible for providing direct leadership to Supervisors. This person serves as primary liaison in the Night Shift Manager's (NSM) absence, to ensure effective communication between Didlake's Project Manager, Corporate office, and the site Contract Officer.

The purpose of the Lead Janitorial Supervisor position is to provide support, assistance and guidance to individuals with severe disabilities that will enable the individual to develop work skills and enhance their ability to communicate with customers in a workplace environment. Through the support and guidance given to individuals with severe disabilities, they will be able to advance their knowledge, skills, and interpersonal skills opening up a variety of opportunities including upward mobility within Didlake's organization.

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities to ensure all goals or objectives are accomplished.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to standards.
  • Ensure appropriate level of approved materials, supplies and equipment are available and informs the NSM when levels low.
  • Identify staff development and training gaps; consult with NSM to ensure training is obtained. Train employees on job-specific tasks.
  • Confers with supervisors to outline work plans and to assign duties, responsibilities.
  • Mentors supervisors and provides direct oversight on their work.
  • Identify and problem-solve in a timely manner. Elevate to NSM when necessary.
  • Addresses tardiness and attendance of staff in a positive manner and provides recognition when appropriate.
  • Review requests for leave and makes recommendations to NSM for approval according to Didlake policy.
  • Work with Employment Services to assure program plans are followed and appropriate accommodations are made.
  • Ensures Employee Support Plans are utilized by supervisors.
  • Provide leadership to staff by fostering cooperation.
  • Give feedback to nurture a positive environment and quality performance.
  • Model dependability, hard work, strong ethics, and professional appearance.
  • Assure appropriate workplace conduct as dictated by Didlake policy and procedures.
  • Interview potential employees and make recommendations for hire.
  • Assure the safety of employees by monitoring proper use of equipment and adherence to safety policies.
  • Hold regular meetings with employees on priorities, assigned work, and results of inspections.
  • Utilize training opportunities to expand professional and technical knowledge.
  • Inspect equipment room and equipment for cleanliness and repair. Tag out equipment when necessary; notify NSM of all equipment issues.
  • Inspect supply closets for organization, appropriate items, supply logs, and SDS books for accuracy.
  • Complete required paperwork and/or documentation.
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding of new hires
  • Act as Didlake representative and a good steward of government resources.
  • Complete and maintain all required Didlake training.

Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in custodial services and preferably, in a supervisory capacity.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Preferred familiarity with the safe operation and use of industrial cleaning products and equipment.
