Hiring Salary: $4,780 - $5,600 per month

Summary of Work


Under the direction of the LMS coordinator, the LMS technical support specialist provides a broad range of support services related to the digital curriculum offered by NDCDE, the organization's Learning Management System (LMS), and all the related technical infrastructure used by NDCDE to deliver courses and related educational services. These support services are provided to both internal and external customers and stakeholders. This is a permanent part-time position, working a maximum of .8 FTE responsibilities (32 hours per week).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Load courses from third-party vendors into LMS, using NDCDE’s standards and configurations
  • Test courses for functionality once loaded, configured, and ready for activation
  • Work closely with curriculum developer and assistant superintendent to maintain a schedule of needed curricular updates and enhancements identified by teachers and planned by vendors and execute all update responsibilities assigned under this schedule
  • Implements new course tools within the LMS; resolves errors and technical problems; runs diagnostic tests on system health; and helps integrate the LMS with other systems
  • Helps maintain LMS system documentation in collaboration with LMS and IT team
  • Provide end-user support to ensure the efficient use of LMS and with technology specific questions related to the Buzz LMS, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to access, navigation, and functionality within the LMS platform
  • In coordination with the LMS and IT teams, develop and maintain a knowledge base of frequently asked questions and common issues faced by end-users of the LMS
  • Collaborate with the IT and LMS staff to identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to the Buzz LMS user experience
  • Archive courses and user accounts
  • Maintain specific domains with the LMS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or related field or a combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • High degree of broad technical aptitude
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions in a friendly and clear manner to a nontechnical audience
  • Ability to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, including teachers and IT professionals, to carry out the position’s scope of work
  • A minimum of three years' experience supporting a Learning Management Systems (LMS) in an educational setting
  • Ability to troubleshoot at a high, independent, and consistent level
  • Proficient in Office 365 applications
  • Supports CDE’s mission and can model its values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the Buzz LMS
  • Knowledge of universal web design concepts for faculty and students with disabilities
  • Experience integrating and testing curriculum in a learning management system
  • Post-secondary education/training in instructional technology
