Job Summary:

Teach the following course in an online / web-based environment during 2023 summer semester.

LIS 707 Data Visualization & Communication for Decision Making:
Under the general supervision of the Director of the Information School, teach LIS 707 in an online format from May 22 - August 27, 2023.

Duties include: Preparation of course content for instruction in a classroom format. Preparation of a syllabus in consultation with iSchool staff, preparation and grading of assignments and examinations, holding synchronous office hours, and communicating with students via email, virtual meetings, or by other means.

Responsibilities:

Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

• 80% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.
• 10% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction.
• 10% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Education:

Required
Master's Degree
Minimum of a Master's degree in a social science field with significant experience with data visualization and communications required

Qualifications:

Experience working with contemporary data visualization software to create presentations and dashboards required. Knowledge of best practices for communicating and creating data visualizations, evaluating data and organizing data. Previous teaching experience and experience in an online learning environment preferred.

Full or Part Time: 45.3% - 100%

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 3-month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Minimum $43,388 SUMMER SESSION
Depending on Qualifications

Additional Information:

There is a possibility this position can be extended in subsequent semesters to teach the course listed on this PVL, or similar courses within the department. This position may become renewable if there is a need for an ongoing appointment.
