Lecturer Maritime & Offshore Safety

As part of Warsash Maritime School, Solent University, Safety Training provide commercial education, training and consultancy services to the international maritime and offshore industries across a variety of academic and professional disciplines.

Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer to support both theoretical and practical delivery of a variety of courses across the Safety Training portfolio with specific course management and development responsibilities in the maritime subject area. Theoretical delivery elements are predominantly classroom based, whilst practical elements are delivered at either the pier head, in the Southampton Water/Solent area or at the offsite survival pool facility. Full onsite specific training and development will be provided to ensure suitable and sufficient familiarisation with all course material and equipment prior to delivery.

Appropriate industry experience (particularly commercial marine, offshore oil & gas or offshore renewables) in the core Safety Training subject areas is essential - as is the ability to confidently swim. The successful applicant will also hold a full UK driving licence.

You will have teaching/instructional skills across both practical and theoretical Safety Training disciplines, and preferably hold a recognised teaching qualification and current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and First Aid at Work certificate.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for student learning are essential. Some unsocial hours and UK/international travel may occasionally be required.
