POSITION SUMMARY -LEGAL ASSISTANT

Eight-attorney law firm located northeast of the University of Washington looking for legal assistant to support 1-2 attorneys whose caseload primarily focuses on immigration, but also includes family law, adoption, estate planning, and probate. Congenial atmosphere in which high-quality service is expected. Salary range between $43,000-$48,000, based on experience. We offer medical benefits, retirement plan contribution, paid holidays, PTO. Expected to work in-person, 40 hours a week, M-F, 8:00am-5:00pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Provide courteous, accurate and timely responses to clients, attorneys, court personnel, and maintain high level of confidentiality and professionalism as required in a law office.

· Draft and e-file court pleadings, prepare working copies for court hearings, prepare documents for service of process, and prepare monthly bills.

· Witness will signings, compile mailings, manage client files with accuracy and precision, word processing, copying/scanning, and share general office tasks, including space scheduling and telephone answering, with other staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree. Spanish-language fluency is required.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.
  • Prior experience with a customer management system – including use of management/maintenance of processes, data, client communications, and reporting.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience working with a diverse community and people who have experienced trauma
  • Exhibit a professional, kind, and patient demeanor, with a strong customer service focus and an ability to handle stressful situations and with a high degree of diplomacy and tact.
  • Proven ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and communications.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Valid Washington State driver license and bondable [either a current notary public license or qualified to receive one, if requested].

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with Clio, Docketwise, Immigration law, E-filing and for King County Superior Court, Washington and King County Courts Civil Rules.
