Summary:

Reviews and analyzes loan applications and determines their disposition within established guidelines.

This position may be eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluates loan requests for consumer loan products analyzing applicant’s strengths and overall creditworthiness
• Underwrites applications effectively and efficiently within set timeframes
• Calculates financial ratios and evaluates the income risk factors
• Helps structure loan terms and makes decisions adhering to Credit Union policies and procedures
• Conducts member interviews and background research to facilitate the funding process
• Maintains quality and accuracy rating on loan decisions within established department requirements.
• Answers incoming calls from lending hotline to assist other departments related to consumer lending inquiries
• Reviews and evaluates income and financial documents
• Understands and analyzes personal and business tax returns.
• Identifies risk factors and patterns to mitigate potential fraud
• Ensures full compliance with UNIFY Financial Credit Union Service Standards and the Bank Secrecy Act.
• Must be open to travel to attend work-related training and events as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

• Knowledgeable of federal and state consumer lending regulations
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
• Demonstrates strong knowledge in reading an Experian credit report
• Must have the ability to interpret financial information and perform math functions (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, etc.)
• Able to critically think to make a sound decision in a fast-paced environment
• Must be detail-oriented to assess information with a high-level of accuracy

Qualifications:

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with minimum of two years of experience in underwriting consumer loan applications
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals and groups and proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software applications.
