What you will do
Define and implement data and analytics policy for the organisation. Includes the policies and governance in place to sign off business capabilities and application workloads as compliant in order to exploit e.g. cloud solutions.
Provide oversight and leadership of data and analytics initiatives, projects and programmes.
Create and implement information/data governance policies.
Create a Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence.
Lead data management, including operations and maintenance of data and analytics technology infrastructure.
Build a data operating model. The recommended option was to adopt a Hub and Spoke model. By acting as a “hub,” the CoE can effectively work with “spoke” teams across the enterprise in each of the Divisions.

What we are looking for
Communications. The ability to concisely communicate to non-IT personnel, the importance of strong data governance, cataloguing and increasing data trust across Leonardo UK.
Visionary. The opportunity to become industry leading in data is unparalleled across the industry, we are looking for a candidate who can help drive our data journey with initiatives i.e. data marketplace and data monetisation.
Speed, Agility Vs Governance. We are looking for a candidate who can balance putting data analytics into the hands of the users at pace vs ensuring the governance is incrementally improved.
IT and OT. Initially focussed upon data governance of IT systems but shortly to be followed by how these techniques can be adopted within the product space i.e. Radars.
Security and Regulation. Ideally a candidate who has experience in a highly regulated environment. For this role, prior experience in Defence isn’t necessarily beneficial but awareness of data in a highly regulated environment is (i.e. Financial Services).
Cloud-based technologies. LUK are looking to pioneer the use of Cloud Based technologies for data analytics. Experience in these would be beneficial.
