Job description
Licensed and currently registered by New York State as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and have one year of post NYS licensure professional social work experience; **
OR
Licensed and currently registered by New York State as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Registration and licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor are not considered qualifying.
** Professional social work experience involves activities such as screening, assessing and diagnosing individuals' and families' psychosocial needs, strengths and limitations; participating in the development of treatment plans and discharge plans; counseling and educating individuals, groups and families to promote mental, emotional, physical and social functioning; helping access needed services; providing client/patient advocacy and crisis intervention; and developing, coordinating and evaluating services and support systems. Experience limited to social work research or social work administration is NOT considered qualifying.
Continued employment as a Licensed Master Social Worker 2 is dependent upon current licensure and registration by New York State as a Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Loss of licensure or registration may result in removal from employment.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The selected candidate will be a vital team member within the Region 1 Regional Office organizational structure. The LMSW2 will typically provide support to one designated functional team within the Regional Office but may provide additional or alternative coverage when Regional Office needs deem this necessary. The functional teams within the Regional Office include: Front Door, Waiver Services, Eligibility, Self-Direction, Housing, Crisis, Property/Development, Fiscal, and Quality Management/Technical Assistance. The selected candidate will work to ensure excellent quality in Regional Office operational standards.
Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required to meet organizational needs. Occasional travel within the 17-county region may be required.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Provide support to the Housing Team as a Housing Liaison with the Certified Housing Team.
2. Serve as a member of the Regional Office providing the full range of services to individuals and families.
3. Potential supervision and training of subordinate staff.
4. Participate in activities such as screening and/or assessing individuals psychosocial needs, strengths and limitations.
5. Assist with reviewing and assessing individual’s need for OPWDD services and supports.
6. Communicate with key stakeholders, including staff in various departments in the Regional Office, Central Office, Care Management Agencies and Voluntary Provider Agencies.
7. Serve as a liaison between the Regional Office and the individuals/families we serve, along with provider agencies and other referring entities.
8. Attend and participate in housing related meetings, telephone conference calls and video conferences.
9. Assist with reviewing and processing incoming housing subsidy applications in addition to additional tasks related to the housing as defined and outlined by OPWDD Housing Protocol.
10. Provide support across the various departments in the Regional Office as needed.
11. Additional duties may be assigned to assist in supporting Regional Office operations.
