LIFEGUARD

As a Lifeguard at the Basin Swim Academy you will have the opportunity to be part of a new growing family operated swim Academy. We strive to be an active part of the community and a place for families to come and enjoy their time.

Our first priority is the safety of our participants and teaching them water safety skills. Working as a lifeguard you will bear responsibility for the safety, cleanliness, and operation of the swimming pool during operation hours. The primary function of the lifeguard will be to safeguard the health and safety of all academy members, class participants, and guests. Secondary responsibilities will include assisting with working at the front desk answering questions and welcoming everyone that comes in.

Education: Current Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Reports to work in uniform a minimum of ten minutes prior to assigned shift in order to receive communications and instructions from supervisor or previous lifeguard.
  • Responsible for safety of all swimmers during shift and for the interpretation and enforcement of all pool rules.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the pool area and equipment and notifying supervisor of any needed repairs or adjustments. May perform needed repairs as qualified.
  • Responsible for presenting a positive, professional image of the Swim Academy to members and guests and for providing outstanding member service through information, service, and courtesy at all times.
  • Responsible for the implementation of emergency procedures as needed for major and minor incidents including medical problems and conditions requiring the pool to close.
  • Responsible for attending all staff meetings and for securing qualified substitutes well in advance of my absences, notifying supervisor of coverage of missed shifts.

Physical demands

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and sit throughout a shift
  • Must be able to successfully pass lifeguard certification requirements at all times
  • Must be able to successfully perform rescue skills during in-service training
  • Ability to successfully demonstrate proper rescue techniques using use of rescue equipment
  • Must be able to work in an often warm and humid environment with heightened noise
  • Ability to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
