Job Description for Logistics Manager, Global Operations

Position Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the oversight and management for the end to end forward stocking location (warehouse) and distribution operations between vendors, manufacturing and customers. This role includes the development, execution and implementation of logistics projects and initiatives that will drive process harmonization, improvements, savings and value creation for ASM America supply chain and logistics function. The Logistics Manager is also responsible for day to day oversight and management of the third party logistics service provider operations and performance management. The Logistics Manager will coach, train and develop individuals and teams within the Region Warehouse and Distribution Team. This role is part of the Global Spares and Services Logistics organization and reports to the Senior Logistics Manager.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Business Unit and Global Operations stakeholders to establish short term and long term capacity and capability needs and right size logistics operations to support business growth
  • Act as a logistics business partner to business units operations, region spares supply chain and customer account management team to support region growth, efficiency and continuity of the business
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of inventory accuracy, material flow, inbound, outbound and reverse logistics transactions, while meeting business metrics and ensuring logistics productivity
  • Lead and drive the management of third party logistics service operational performance review, scorecards, improvement plans and resolve any operational gaps identified with CAPA/8D/problem solving methods
  • Lead and design the optimal configuration of the ASM America network of forward stocking locations and warehouses relative to location, size, capabilities and inventory
  • Ensure regular execution of cycle count and stock-take activities on all warehouses in the assigned region accordingly to accounting policies to meet and exceed high level of inventory accuracy
  • Work with Global Trade Compliance Team and customs brokers to ensure export and import compliance (proper HTS code classification, COO, End User Statement, Free Trade Agreements, duty regimes) to ASM Trade Policies
  • Develop and implement critical strategies focus on warehousing and distribution operations to improve cost, storage utilization, quality and productivity / cycle time
  • Control and verify global operations and spares logistics operational cost and holds the accountability to present the cost performance to business and management team, including initiatives towards optimizing total logistics cost to serve to business plan (BP) initiatives
  • Identify and implement lean principles and methodologies via automation (tools, systems, processes) where appropriate to drive flexibility and scalability to logistics operations
  • Ensure highest standards are achieved in the forward stocking location in areas of safety, personnel, efficiency, 5S

Experience / Skills Required

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management for the capital equipment industry, preferably semiconductor or hi-tech environment
  • Excellent people management and prior experience in developing high performance team
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to use data to influence and make decisions
  • Prior experience with developing logistics budgets, and driving plans for cost overruns
  • Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or higher
  • Experience in SAP is preferred, knowledge of TMS / WMS functionalities is expected
  • Any other professional certifications will be of added advantage
  • Proven self-starter, change agent and influencer
  • Ability to perform multiple actions across multiple regions
  • Ability to operate in an environment of significant change and ambiguity
