Essential Job Accountabilities:
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include checking schedules and organizing patient flow.
- Escorting patients to exam/procedure rooms. Observes, records and reports patients conditions and reactions to drugs and treatment to providers.
- Assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
- Collecting patient history including current medications, allergies, symptoms, etc.
- Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care as directed by provider; this may include screenings and administering medications and treatments in accordance with clinical and nursing standards.
- Prepares equipment and aids providers during treatment, examination and testing of patients and with various procedures as needed.
- Timely and accurate documentation in patient charts; relaying information & instructions to patient/family. Document all interventions, phone calls, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, hospital data, etc. in medical record/EMR.
- Demonstrates knowledge of safe medication administration; administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Answering patient phone calls & messages and acting as a communication liaison between the patient and provider.
- Collection and handling of lab specimens following established standards and practices. Adhere to infection control safety guidelines, maintaining equipment, instruments and stock supplies.
- Utilizes electronic referral process to complete requested physician referrals to NCH Healthcare Group specialists and ancillary services.
- Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include filing or sending medical records to a patient or referral provider; appointment scheduling.
- Knows the general condition of the equipment at all times, knows how to operate all equipment required in the course of performing procedures. Documents failures in a timely manner.
- Knowledgeable about treatments administered and studies performed, as well as any preparation of the patient which may be required prior to the test being performed.
- Minimum of High School or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in health care facility or private physician office preferred.
- Licensed as Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS Provider) certification from American Heart Association required.

hours; OR Medical Assistant certification; OR a minimum of one-year experience in medical office setting as a
Medical Assistant or like role - Verified ability to take accurate patient vital signs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively articulate and explain required information to patients.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD9 codes.
- Knowledge of basic and specialty medical terminology.
