The Wisconsin DNR is hiring an LTE (Limited Term Employee) – HVAC Refrigeration Specialist- Advance located at Fitchburg Service Center in Fitchburg, Wisconsin.

Position Summary


South Central Region HVAC Refrigeration Specialist - LTE

Perform HVAC maintenance & repair, facility maintenance, and building & grounds operations in the South Central Region (SCR). Locations: Fitchburg, Dodgeville, Horicon, Janesville, Madison Darwin Road Facility, Madison Science Operations Center.

55% HVAC Maintenance and Repair
  • Inspect, repair & maintain commercial HVAC equipment
  • Monitor controls for heating & ventilating equipment
  • Clean or replace filters
  • Repair & adjust controls
  • Set up preventive maintenance schedule
  • Review computer output to locate, identify & troubleshoot issues
  • Disassemble & inspect controls/equipment
  • Layout control systems; redesign for maximum efficiency
  • Balance air & water flow distribution
  • Monitor computerized control center
  • Read printouts & interpret for changes
  • Determine energy management savings & conservation
  • Find & repair leaks in gas refrigerant units
  • Maintain & repair pneumatic & electronic controls
30% Maintenance of Administrative facilities, grounds, & equipment
  • Arrange for contractor/vendor repairs
  • General facility & shop maintenance & pool cars
  • Perform general carpentry, masonry, painting, electrical & plumbing tasks
  • Pick up trash on grounds & parking areas; remove snow
10% Management of facilities and grounds operations
  • Contact appropriate vendors for repairs
  • Review and approve invoices for payment
  • Perform miscellaneous repairs and tasks
  • Assist programs in preparing meeting rooms/arranging furniture for meetings
  • Make office/desk/cubicle adjustments or assembly as needed for staff
  • Coordinate staff office moves as needed
  • Arrange for removal of surplus furniture
  • Purchase tools and equipment as needed to maintain building and grounds
  • Assist in moving various building furnishings
5% Procurement & maintenance of supplies, furniture, & movable equipment
  • Monitor supply inventory levels; determine storage plans
  • Perform manual duties such as lifting boxes, loads, & materials
  • Perform/direct the receipt, storage, issuance, & delivery of supplies

Salary Information


This position pays $25.60 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 03-15. For current and eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details


This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position. LTE positions do not automatically lead to permanent state employment or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employees; however, these positions do offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin.

LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours per position within a twelve-month period.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:
1. Skills to build effective working relationships, to work in a team and with groups, to negotiate with internal staff from multiple programs and levels of an organization, and in providing excellent customer service
2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
3. Ability to multi-task & prioritize to ensure time sensitive and critical tasks are addressed
4. Valid Driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of building envelope maintenance including roofs, exterior walls, foundations, siding, insulation, exterior doors, and windows
2. Knowledge in interior building maintenance and operations including heating, cooling and ventilation (HVAC) systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems, security systems, telephone systems, interior doors, ceilings, walls, flooring, restrooms, and general safety
3. Knowledge in building site maintenance and operations, including landscaping, parking lots, sidewalks, general safety, and security
4. Skills to build effective working relationships, to work in a team and with groups, to negotiate with internal staff from multiple programs and levels of an organization, and in providing excellent customer service
5. Ability to establish relationships with contractors and vendors used for construction, building, landscaping, snowplowing and other services at Administrative Facilities
