We have seven START Crisis Center locations in San Diego:

Nurse - LVN – Mental Health
Hours: What works for you? 8 - 40 hours per week; availability for days, evenings, overnights and weekend shifts. For benefit purposes, 30 hours/week is considered to be full-time. On-call shifts also available.
NEW Pay Rate: $36.06 per hour for regular weekday shifts; $3/hr additional differential for overnight and weekend shifts!
A typical day will include...
- You'll provide physical health and mental health assessments,
- Helping clients learn to manage their illness, providing encouragement and counseling as needed, and monitor/report any side effects of medications.
- You’ll be responsible for safely storing and handling medications and ensuring the proper documentation is completed.
- You’ll provide medication support services and case management to ensure optimal outcomes for your clients. You may provide First Aid as needed.
You won’t be wearing scrubs. You won’t be providing traditional bedside services. You will be part of a collaborative, holistic, wrap-around service team that changes lives!
What you'll need to be successful--
- Must possess a current CA nursing license (LVN) and must be kept current during employment
- First Aid/CPR certification is required and must be kept current during employment
- Ability to physically and mentally assist in emergency situations is required
- Previous experience working with a mental health population, especially with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders is strongly preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential
- Ability to pass criminal/background clearance and credentialing review

Located in San Diego County, CA, these programs provide intensive, community-based crisis residential services for adults in San Diego. We deliver a unique alternative to psychiatric hospitalization to clients who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis of such magnitude so as not to be manageable on an outpatient basis. Our services are provided in a home-like environment that specializes in the psychosocial rehabilitation of each individual.
Built around a bio-psychosocial approach, our multi-disciplinary team addresses each aspect of a client’s unique situation, including mental health, co-occurring substance abuse, housing, medical/medication needs, and establishing connections to social service supports within the community to facilitate successful transition beyond the START program.
