Machinist
Job description
Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Machinist to operate a variety of machinery, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses, to manufacture metal parts. The ideal candidate will have experience in setting up and operating machines, as well as the ability to read technical drawings and blueprints.
Responsibilities:
- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. • Determine the appropriate machine tools, attachments, and materials needed to manufacture the required part. • Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools to perform precision machining operations, such as turning, milling, drilling, boring, and grinding, on a variety of materials including steel, aluminum, brass, and other metals. • Verify dimensions of finished workpiece against specifications, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines and equipment. • Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to develop new products and improve existing ones. • Monitor inventory of raw materials and consumable supplies, and order them as needed. • Adhere to safety procedures and regulations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, and completion of a vocational or technical school program in machine tool technology or a related field is preferred. • Proven experience as a machinist, with a strong understanding of machining principles and techniques. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments. • Excellent math skills, including knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Good communication skills, both verbal and written. • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed. • Physical dexterity and stamina to operate machinery for long periods of time.
