Hiring Salary: $39,909.00
Workday/Times Vary: Monday thru Friday "and" Saturdays as scheduled.
Devoted to maintaining and repairing City property, vehicles, roads and traffic systems, equipment and facilities, providing custodial services, and collecting, transporting and disposing municipal solid and yard waste through the performance of semi-skilled and skilled labor and technical work. Perform standardized work following prescribed procedures and instructions, requiring minimal prior training or experience. There is an established and specified routine to be followed and limited decision-making, restricted to choosing and safely using the proper work tools.
Responsible for cleaning facilities and/or equipment; performing basic maintenance of equipment, grounds, and facilities; performing manual labor; assisting with projects that require semi-skilled labor; providing customer service; and keeping records and reporting maintenance needs to higher authority that fall outside of the scope of the work assigned.
- Assisting customers with solid waste disposal and compliance, including directing customers to disposal areas, educating customers about acceptable disposal items, and responding to customer inquiries.
- Maintaining recycling areas, and cleaning and maintaining facility.
- Unloading items.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC).
- One year of maintenance or customer service experience related to assignment.
- This position is critical to emergency operations and will report to work in spite of or because of an emergency or disaster event.

- Available to work 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
- Available Saturdays when assigned.
- Willing and able to work in various types of weather conditions (high temperatures, snow, rain, sleet, etc.)
- This position requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in situations where social distancing cannot be achieved, are you willing and able to wear (PPE) as needed.
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
