Job Goal: This position exists to maintain the School District of New Richmond's facilities in a safe and healthful atmosphere.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Overhaul, service and upgrade HVAC, refrigeration, electrical/electronic, plumbing systems, and equipment.

2. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and keep records of work performed.

3. Check mechanical rooms and boiler rooms daily to assure proper operation of all HVAC systems.

4. Implement the firing of pressure boilers to provide the necessary heat and/or hot water according to seasons or demands.

5. Clean and repair boilers and accessories as needed.

6. Report to the lead maintenance mechanic and/or the supervisor of buildings and grounds all problems and failures of building structures, heating, ventilating, and electrical systems.

7. Weld and braze as needed.

8. Conduct ongoing inspections to ensure safety and maintenance of facilities and equipment.

9. Perform construction projects such as walls, cabinets, display cases, shelves, etc. as required.

10. Maintain and repair school vehicles and ground-care equipment.

11. Receive, store and inventory supplies.

12. Assist in snow removal, i.e. sweep, shovel, plow, as necessary.

13. Repair or replace all locks, doors, or other security devices as needed.

14. Maintain key inventory and documentation, cut keys, and combinate cores as necessary.

15. Install and maintain playground equipment as necessary.

16. Maintain all food preparation and dishwashing equipment.

17. Assist with custodial projects as necessary.

18. Assist in the preparation of buildings for school and community education activities.

19. Keep informed of trends and the latest developments and products in the areas of maintenance, repair and upkeep.

20. Maintain all outdoor athletic fields as necessary.

21. Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy of others.

22. Obey and enforce safety rules and regulations.

23. Perform all other assigned duties as deemed necessary by the lead maintenance mechanic and/or the supervisor of buildings and grounds.

Qualifications:

1. Possess related degree from a technical school or college.

2. Possess HVAC certification.

3. Lead the maintenance mechanics and workers.

4. Ability to read working drawings and schematics.

5. Possess a valid driver license.

6. Be able to lift 70 pounds.

7. Demonstrate competency in the following areas: HVAC and refrigeration equipment, pneumatic and electrical controls, plumbing and electrical/electronic systems.

8. Capable of troubleshooting, analyzing and making repairs with minimal technical assistance.

Physical Requirements:

This work regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing and occasionally requires pushing, pulling, lifting, and operating machines; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. school offices/classrooms/passageways).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.53 per hour
