Position Summary:

American Roller Bearing is currently seeking Maintenance Technicians located in Morganton, NC working day shift (7am-3pm.) The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for industrial machinery and production equipment upkeep, working alone or with a crew.


Essential Job Duties:

  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive and corrective maintenance requirements. Equipment and tools include manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, precision grinders, heat-treating equipment, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic, hydraulic, and servo systems, motor and coupling alignment, roller chain/sprocket alignment, conveyors, and other industrial equipment
  • Capable of following operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, engineering specifications, electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and schematics
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace PLC and PC-based controls, servo systems, AC/DC variable frequency drivers, motors, and relay logic control systems
  • Comply with NEC standards on wiring, repairs, and installations
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operations, listening for problems, and using precision measuring tools
  • Remove defective parts from industrial equipment by dismantling assemblies, using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements by inspecting used parts using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Log data into computerized maintenance system
  • Read and interpret electrical/electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics
  • Adjust functional parts of equipment and control systems by using hand tools, meters, gauges, levels, and other alignment tools
  • Procure repair parts, outside contractors, etc. as required
  • Able to follow our company vehicle policy requirements (annual DMV reports)
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Two-year Electrical, Technical, or related certificate or degree preferred
  • Requires experience in industrial maintenance within a manufacturing environment

Skills:

  • Requires knowledge of PC and PLC-based controls, industrial equipment, and safety procedures
  • Must be familiar with the use of: VOM, Multimeter, Megger, AC & DC Amperage Clamp Meter and general hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to work and communicate with others
  • Must be able to read a ruler, dial calipers, micrometers, and do shop math (fractions, decimals, etc.)
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and a good work history
  • Must be a well-rounded individual who can perform efficient work on a variety of industrial equipment, executing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft and ability to learn and work with other various computer programs
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and safety oriented
  • Contribute to team effort by communication, accomplishing results, and meeting expectations
  • Ability to operate 3 types of forklifts (sit down, stand up and scissor lift)
  • Have a good knowledge and understanding of Company policies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to frequently lift / push / pull objects that are up to 24 pounds. The use of a hoist is required for weight heavier than 24 pounds.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

All associates are required to wear protective eyewear, hearing protection, and slip resistant, steel-toed shoes at all times while on the plant floor.
