The Opportunity
As the Manager, Front End Engineering at Rimsys, you will play a pivotal role in helping to organize, manage and drive applications engineering projects to successful delivery, by leveraging the team’s capabilities. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the Rimsys core application platform through development, test, and production environments.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable taking responsibility for the performance and development of their team. You will be laser-focused on leading the Front End Development team and leveraging the best of everyone's skills in order to build a high-quality, scalable, modern software platform while working closely with the leadership team to help define how the software delivery function evolves to ensure best practices are followed at every stage of the process. This role is also customer facing and is responsible for being a technical liaison between Rimsys development and other technical teams/contacts at various company levels within both prospective and existing Rimsys clients and partners.
Reporting directly to the CTO, you will work collaboratively with all team members in software development projects and be supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build dev/test environments. This role has a key architectural component as well, collaborating closely with product and technology leadership on the vision, strategy, & roadmap, providing technical perspective and insights.

Our team operates on the East Coast time zone.
Travel Requirements
Our team has regular on-site collaboration sessions. These occur one week per year at our Pittsburgh office. If you need to travel to attend these sessions, Rimsys will cover travel related expenses.

How you'll make an impact:
- Leading the design and development of complex web applications using Laravel PHP, Vue/Typescript, Nuxt, and MySQL.
- Work directly with technical leadership, product management, and customers as needed to gather and analyze project requirements and timelines
- Managing multiple software development projects within a diverse, globally distributed team to ensure high quality code delivery within key release milestones
- Managing communications and relationships with key technical stakeholders within both prospective and existing Rimsys customers and partners
- Lead a distributed team of offshore and onshore developers, while also making direct code contributions to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain rich web applications.
- Embrace and implement modern technologies and frameworks, focusing on security, reliability, testability, and maintainability.
- Perform code inspections/design reviews and approve Pull Requests for promotion of software deliverables to production.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully completing multiple software development projects, working in an Agile environment
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S./B.A.) required, Master’s degree a plus. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of formal education. Relevant fields include Software Engineering, Information Sciences, and Computer Science.
- 5+ years of experience leading software engineering project, with responsibility for overall team performance in project management role with a proven track record of successful management of time, resources, and quality.
- 3-5 years of experience in creating modern, well-written web applications, specifically with strong development experience in Typescript or Vue.js, Nuxt, Laravel 9, MySQL or PostgreSQL, Tailwind CSS stack. (Expect to demonstrate coding proficiency.)
- Significant Hands-on Experience implementing web application software, and background in managing public-facing software development projects.
- Strong understanding of DevOps and Software security best practices, ideally used to working in a regulated environment (Rimsys is ISO 27001 compliant)
- Detail-driven, producing detailed software documentation and deployment plans, while coordinating with customer implementation teams, in order to clearly communicate API requirements and technical details while aligning release schedules to business needs
- Comfortable working with globally distributed onshore/offshore teams.
- Experience using Agile/Scrum/Sprint methodology including sprint planning and execution, as well as a strong understanding of software development project management methods and best practices.
- Technically fluent and comfortable dealing with technical information and can translate technical capabilities into user requirements and customer benefits.
- Quick learner, organized, and self-motivated with the ability to define goals and prioritize your own work.
- Self-starter; provide significant impact to an organization; you spot opportunities to make things better and take ownership over them.
- Entrepreneurial instincts with a clear bias for informed action and a track record of leading new initiatives with limited resources and support

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus or commission. Final offers are determined by multiple factors including skills, depth of work experience and relevant credentials.
