Job description
The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) on the Sacramento State campus is seeking to hire a casual employee who will assist with Marketing and Communication duties. This position entails communication plans that will include the design of and production of marketing materials for targeted internal and external audiences including but not limited to promotional videos, photography, flyers, performance reports, quarterly newsletters, website design/management, social media updates, graphic design for logos, conference and event themes, multimedia publications, etc.
Conditions of Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.
UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one account per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI position for a different UEI position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice
Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (i.e., degree, license, or official transcript), DMV clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.

Work Schedule
F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday – Friday, between 8 AM – 5 PM. Final work schedule to be determined by supervisor.
Additional Work Schedule
Casual employees are limited to 19.5 hours per workweek (Sunday – Saturday).
M inimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies, Media, Film, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply standard communication theories, practices, and techniques to create marketing materials that enhance the operations and success of the HEP/CAMP program.
- Demonstrated knowledge of graphic design, photography, and video creation.
- Ability to judge spatial relationships, linear sequence, and related graphic design characteristics.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas effectively in writing using appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
- Demonstrated experience installing and troubleshooting desktop hardware and software.
- Demonstrated ability to create, design, and analyze official marketing materials for the HEP/CAMP program using knowledge of graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator and adobe Photoshop. Working knowledge of layout needs for photography and printing processes.
- Demonstrated experience producing and editing videos and photos to create promotional videos and web publications using editing programs Adobe Premier, Avid, Final Cut, DSLR cameras, external microphones, lighting equipment and professional video cameras.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with all members of a culturally diverse staff and campus community.
- Demonstrated experience with using computer applications including email, word processing, and spreadsheets, such as the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be fingerprinted and pass a background check. Must continue to meet the established standards.

- Demonstrated communication skills in English/Spanish
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops communication plans in collaboration with HEP/CAMP administrators to strategically maximize program exposure.
- Creates, designs, and analyzes official marketing materials for HEP/CAMP using graphic design software to enhance the program’s image.
- Ensures the care and maintenance of technical equipment and machinery including cameras, scanners, computers and identifying necessary software or additional pieces for updating existing equipment to current standards.
- Provides advice regarding the best media outlet for reaching intended internal or external audiences.
- Produces and edits photos and videos for web publication using editing programs.
- Frequently posts and updates posts on social media (such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) and maintains the HEP/CAMP Serves as technical support (desktop and laptop) for staff during presentations, trainings, and meetings that involve HEP/CAMP information and marketing materials.
- Compiles text, data, and images into formatted performance reports for presentations.
- Serves as the liaison with the Information Technology department and performs or schedules software upgrades, installations and configurations.
- Supervises and provides support and guidance to student employees in the department.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work is performed in an office environment.
The Sacramento State High School Equivalency Program (HEP) is one of fifty federally funded programs nationwide designed to assist migrant and seasonal agricultural workers complete their high school education. The program helps individuals over the age of 18 obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma. HEP also prepares students for higher levels of education or training, and assists with transitioning into more stable and better-paid forms of employment.
