The Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (The Center-NE) is a regional office housed within Saginaw Valley State University. We are a regional service provider for the national Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program serving the following counties: Arenac, Bay, Clare, Genesee, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Iosco, Isabella, Lapeer, Midland, Ogemaw, Roscommon, Saginaw, Sanilac, St. Clair and Tuscola counties. Our mission is to assist manufacturers in growth, process improvement, workforce and talent management development training and consulting programs. Much of our work involves small to mid-sized manufacturing clients.
JOB SUMMARY: The Marketing and Project Specialist coordinates and services customer focused activities, marketing efforts, and special projects for the manufacturing clients of the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center at Saginaw Valley State University. Responsibilities include interacting with clients to coordinate training and consulting project details, developing promotional flyers for special events, and assisting with the coordination of special projects. Reporting to the Director and working closely with the Program Manager and Business Solutions team, the Specialist will act as an internal liaison of information between the client, business solutions team, and program manager to ensure all critical data and processes are adhered to in compliance with federal and state grants. The position also collaborates with the Great Lakes Bay Manufacturers Association and the SVSU Independent Testing Laboratory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researches, develops, and executes pilot projects which may involve new business or service offerings to help diversify revenue streams and improve existing program effectiveness.
- Assists in the development and deployment of brochures, flyers, Constant Contact, etc. to support various projects.
- Assists in the coordination and marketing of projects, programs, events, and speakers.
- Coordinates the workflow of client engagements from proposal generation through project completion.
- Interacts with client corporate personnel to update them on pre-engagement progress and post-survey follow-up.
- Contacts client stakeholders to promote upcoming training and events.
- Interact with client corporate personnel to completes project impact statements, case/success studies, and other customer service needs, as necessary.
- Establishes standard work procedures and documentation control for operational processes w/ strict document control.
- Assists members of the Business Development and Program Manager with various tasks
- Work with the Great Lakes Bay Manufacturers Association and SVSU Independent Testing Laboratory on special events and projects when needed.
- Maintain performance criteria set by the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center headquarters to meet business goals and objectives.
- Interact with MMTC Regional offices to coordinate activities that are shared within each region.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct supervision from the Director of the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center - Northeast
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- Personal computer proficiency.
- Excellent typing, grammar and spelling skills.
- High proficiency using Excel – spreadsheets, formulas, graphs and tracking.
- Excellent customer service skills – friendly/ pleasant and responsive to both internal and external customers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of files and records.
- Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Relevant work experience in manufacturing, sales & marketing, project management, or customer service-related field.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Ability to handle differing situations and problems in the work routine by exercising judgment based on established policies and procedures.
- Experience and ability to positively interact with a diverse campus community.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using Salesforce.com, Constant Contact and Adobe InDesign.
- Understanding of concepts such as LEAN, Six Sigma, Quality Systems, etc.
