Job Description:
R&D labs at International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) are in need of a Journeyman/Journeywoman or Master electrician (licensed in the State of Delaware) for a hybrid support role. Encompassing E&I repair to custom PLC builds, on and for equipment ranging from benchtop to pilot scale, our lead technologist role is truly a jack of all trades.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows safe work practices as set forth by company standards, NFPA, and other codes in electrically classified and non-classified areas.
  • Uses Lock, Tag, Clear and Try procedure and other safe work procedures before beginning work on equipment and systems.
  • Work in PSM (Process Safety Management) rated and non-PSM facilities and strictly adhere to safety principles and policies as a condition of employment.
  • Reads and understands schematics and P&ID’s to build/repair controls enclosures for equipment.
  • Tests, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic equipment and electrical circuits as required by using specialized instruments such as multi-meters, clamp-on ammeters, oscilloscopes, and frequency meters and computers.
  • Installs specialized troubleshooting equipment for diagnostics.
  • Builds enclosures and test setups
  • Troubleshoots process control systems and associated instrumentation (temperature, level, and pressure control instruments and processors
  • Troubleshoots AC or DC variable speed drives, servo drives and speed control systems.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on equipment, following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of research equipment or perform scheduled maintenance repairs of same equipment as needed.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Interlock & Critical isolation valve testing
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, welding, cutting and material handling equipment in performing duties

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
Required Education, Licenses and/or Certifications

  • Journeyman/Journeywoman or Master Electrical License for the State of Delaware
  • High School diploma or Certificate from an accredited college or technical school in the Instrumentation field such as NCCER or CCST
  • A valid driver’s license

Preferred Experience:

  • Strong electrical knowledge and background
  • Interpretation and application of NEC, NFPA70E, ARC Flash, OSHA and LOTO (lock out tag out) requirements
  • 3-phase, 208 and 460VAC systems, single phase systems and 24Vdc systems
  • Ability to install and troubleshoot common industrial instrumentation system components
  • Motor controls (VFD and servo drive systems) and associated components
  • Industrial control panel build and installation requirements
  • Read and understand schematics and P&ID’s
  • 3+ years as a maintenance technician/electrician in a plant/manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of instrumentation experience is required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $64,500.00 - $80,600.00 per year

  • Electrical or Journeyman: 3 years (Required)

  • Instrumentation: 3 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Master Electrical License for the State of Delaware (Required)
  • Driver's License (Preferred)
