Job Summary:
The Master Production Planner, reporting to the Plant Manager, is responsible for the production schedule requirements throughout the facility to meet Business Objectives in a cost effective and efficient manner.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Review the master schedule for upcoming assigned departmental requirements. Develop the schedule of production for assigned departments to ensure on time customer delivery. Advise the Plant Manager as to increases or decreases in production plans.
- Develop scheduling requirements to achieve on time delivery of Product throughout the organization.
- To proactively work with Customer Service to contact customers when delivery issues need to be addressed.
- Communicate and review scheduling requirements with departmental Team Leaders
- Review the availability of manufactured and purchase parts for the assigned departments.
- Acquire shop orders, purchase order due dates and manufactured parts build dates.
- Act as technical resource to purchasing, manufacturing, and other departments to coordinate efforts and to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
- Follow up to ensure assigned department schedules are completed according to customer and MRP requirements.
- Adjust production schedules as needed based on part availability and customer demands.
- Attend and actively participate in all scheduled meetings.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience as production planner
- Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles
- Experience in MRP II (Manufacturing resource planning)
- Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
- Proficiency in math and statistics
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Experience taking ideas from concept to execution
- Autonomous with superior attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
- At least five years of related experience required in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting to 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
