Clean Harbors in
Newport News, VA facility is looking for a
Hazmat Material Handler to join their safety-conscious team! Known internally as the
InSite Technician, duties will include collecting waste from various worksite areas, loading, and off-loading waste materials, and depositing the materials in their proper storage area. A valid Driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a vehicle are required. Computer skills are required.

Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that Health and Safety are the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
- Computer literate.
- Loading, packaging, and segregation of materials and waste products.
- Quality control checks and sorts bins.
- Assisting the Lead Field Chemist with the execution of assigned lab pack projects.
- Ensure drum count is correct and that drum conditions are shippable by the policies and procedures of Clean Harbors.
What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?
- Lab-pack experience is a plus.
- 1+ years of related experience such as warehouse or materials handling experience
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Computer skills with knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid DL & clean driving record.
- Experience with handling hazardous materials is a plus but not required.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Local travel as business demands require.
- A college degree in chemistry, biology, or other natural science is preferred but not required.
