Position Overview:
The Math Instructor is a part-time, temporary summer program position at the Queen of Angels Summer Youth Program. The Math Instructor will be a Positive Youth Development (PYD) Team member. This position is responsible for planning and executing 10StoryMath curriculum. Math instruction will be provided by direct, hands-on instruction to students. The Math Instructor will provide supplemental and remedial education to promote learning and credit recovery.

- Will lead the math curriculum using evidence-based 10StoryMath, focusing on lesson plans that will promote learning and credit recovery.
- Math instruction will target remedial concepts such as place values and fractions retaught using manipulatives, mental math activities including basic math facts, problem-solving, and targeted interventions in the areas of subject or skill deficit.
- Math instruction will include a combination of student projects, teacher-directed activities, and online courses to earn credit recovery.
- Will maintain lesson plans and up-to-date documentation noting student progress.
- Will participate in the Positive Youth Development (PYD) Team.
- Assists in the development and ongoing updating of project protocols.
- Will maintain a regular and predictable schedule.
- Partners with other project leaders in supporting growth in students Summer Youth Program Goals.
- Provide direct intervention for students who experience high dysregulation during summer youth Activities.
- “Fill in” to lead instruction, recreation, leadership, and other program components when necessary.
- Demonstrate exceptional skills relationally with students.
- Gather pre-and post-data to demonstrate student growth in various developmental areas.
- Actively participates in weekly supervision with the position’s immediate supervisor.
- Model the agency's health and safety practices and regulations.
- Articulate the agency’s treatment philosophy and values.
- Provide and model immediate, appropriate, and kind redirection and correction for problematic behaviors among the youth in accordance with TBRI principles.
- Performs other duties related to the position's essential duties and within the individual’s capabilities as assigned by one’s supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least one year experience designing lesson plans and teaching students in a classroom.
- Secondary Math teaching certificate
- Live experience in child welfare strongly preferred.
- Valid and Current Driver’s License
