MDS/MMQ Coordinator
Pine Knoll is a small, 60-bed facility located in historic Lexington serving the local communities of Middlesex County.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of the MDS Coordinator is to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing and directing the reimbursement documentation for the nursing services department. To assure that all functions are performed in accordance with current federal, local standards,guidelines and regulations that govern our facility as as may be directed by the Administrator, the Medical Director and the Director of Nursing. To ensure that documentation of each resident is kept up to date and submitted in a timely manner for reimbursement by the state and federal governments.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform and submit assessments in preparation for MDS submission.
- To prepare a submission schedule so that the nursing home will be reimbursed at the proper rate.
- To be able to work the floor in case of emergencies such as weather or illness.
- Perform bi-annual MMQ documentation for Medicaid reimbursement.
Prior experience as an MDS coordinator is required. Must be a licensed RN/LPN in the state of Massachusetts.
Specific Requirements:
1. Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse or licensed nurse in this state.
2. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
3. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
4. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
5. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
6. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
7. Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
8. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
9. Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
10. Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition to other nursing staff.
