Job Summary
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain bulk handling and conveying equipment. Employees must be able to meet and comply with the manufacturer's weight limitation safety rating and recommendations for any equipment associated with performing their duties, including the 300 lb. safety rating for ladders (both portable and affixed) and fall arrest equipment.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs to a variety of bulk material handling equipment including belts, pulleys, rollers, hydraulics and other custom machinery.
• Solve work related problems, make decisions, and provide instructions
• Understand mechanical operations of machinery
• Read and utilize machinery schematics and drawings
• Drive heavy duty service truck, forklifts and other utility vehicles
• Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
  

Pay Rate

Journeyman Rate - $37.80 per hour

Training Rate - $34.02/ per hour apprentice (1st 345 work days from start date at work location) - 90% of journeyman rate. Apprentice Rate: 35.91 (2nd 345 work days from start date at work location) - 95 % of journeyman rate. Full Journeyman Rate - $37.80 per hour

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Valid Driver's License
• 21 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications

• Welding experience
• Knowledge of proper utilization and techniques of hoisting and rigging
• Experience with working on conveying systems

Physical Requirements

• Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis
• Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/crawl/balance/climb
• Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection

Basic Competencies

• Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications)
• Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)
• Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)
• Mechanical aptitude
