Position Summary: This is a great opportunity to work in a respected practice as a certified Medical Assistant. Successful candidate must maintain a professional image in the office and in all communications. Must be able to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:30 to 6:00. Essential Job Functions:
- Must be able to multi-task while maintaining good patient and staff relations while providing outstanding customer service.
- Facilitates quality patient care under the supervision of the provider.
- Escorts patients to examination rooms, verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit and ensures all pertinent information is recorded and available to the provider.
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Assists medical provider with minor in office procedures, I.E., injections, lacerations, etc., as requested.
- Reviews messages with physicians and Communicates test and lab results and transmits other information from provider to patient.
- Answers questions as appropriate.
- Creates and maintains tasks and documents.
- All patient interactions.
- Call/Fax/eScribe prescriptions per protocol.
- Keeps exam rooms clean and patient ready and ensures exam rooms are properly stocked with needed supplies and equipment.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments following clinic policy and procedures.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verify receipt.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions.
- Serves and protects the medical practice by adhering to clinic and professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Maintains CPR certification.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of and certification from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
- CPR certification (or completed within 4 months of hiring).
- Previous experience with electronic medical records and medical terminology is very beneficial.
- Past experience in medical transcription and an MA certification is preferred but not required.
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally is required.
- Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Demonstrate excellent computer, telephone and communication skills.
- Outstanding customer service, organization and attention to detail.
- Must be a self-starter, hardworking, a team player, dependable, friendly and professional.
- Be able to multi-task and work efficiently while remaining calm and productive.
- CPR certification required upon hire
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am - Close (6:00 pm). These are the clinic hours. The hours will vary. You are required to be here until the doctor is finished seeing patients and all essential tasks are done.
