Harborview Medical Center's Ambulatory Care Services has multiple outstanding opportunities for MEDICAL ASSISTANT positions. This candidate bank will be used to fill multiple Full-Time (100%) positions.

  • The Medical Assistants (MA) at Harborview Medical Center are responsible for patient care, clinic maintenance, and assisting other support and provider staff as needed. The MA is capable of performing certain clinical and clerical duties as trained and is responsible for ensuring that the clinic is opened, stocked, cleaned, and closed each day. The MA is responsible for providing care to a wide range of ethnically and culturally diverse patient population. As such, the Medical Assistant must be able to work with a diverse patient population.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Orders medical supplies, stocks rooms, and maintains an organized and clean space
  • Maintains clinic flow, working closely with providers to keep them organized in an attempt to have patients seen on time
  • Prepares patient for visit based on appointment type and chief complaint
  • Obtains vital signs on all patients
  • Performs venipuncture as needed
  • Administers clinic specific parenteral medications and testing agents via intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal routes
  • Performs diagnostic tests such as EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, urine dip-sticks, pregnancy tests, pulmonary peak flow monitoring, and other tests as designated
  • Prepares charts and ensures proper scanning of records
  • Able to function at front desk when assigned.
  • Responds appropriately in an emergency, knows hospital codes, delivers the crash cart and O2 to the scene, anticipates needs, and assists by keeping patients and staff clear of the area
  • Participates in clinic Quality Assurance.
  • Works as part of a Team and promotes a positive work environment and image of the clinic.
  • Performs front desk duties as needed

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board; OR equivalent education/experience.

    LEGAL REQUIREMENT:
    Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
    Valid BLS/CPR Card
