Medical Biller/ Medical Receptionist

Our Ear, Nose and Throat medical practice is looking for someone with a passion for providing outstanding customer service and patient care. This individual will be working closely with medical staff in order to ensure patient satisfaction. Your role will be a combination of a Medical Biller and a Medical Receptionist. This is for part-time or full-time employment.

You will be able to interact with patients and staff in a small practice. You will be the first and last point of contact and play an essential role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment. This position requires the ability to work in both of our locations in Princeton and Cranbury, NJ.

Medical Receptionist:

  • Greet patients and check them in and out of their appointments
  • Verify patient’s insurance information and eligibility
  • Collect patient copays and outstanding balances
  • Notify patient if insurance is accepted, and if so what they would be responsible for
  • Enter all patient demographic and healthcare insurance information into our EMR
  • Request prior medical records and scan them into the EMR when received
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Use customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly

Medical Biller:

  • Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
  • Identify and resolve patient billing complaints.
  • Prepare, review, and send patient statements.
  • Monitor and report status of delinquent accounts.
  • Review accounts for possible assignment and make recommendations to Supervisor; also prepare information for the collection agency.
  • Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
  • Process payments from insurance companies and prepare a daily deposit.

Knowledge & Skills Needed:

  • Experience working in a doctor's office as a Medical Biller (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
  • Comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards
  • Familiar with medical terminology
  • EMR knowledge (preferred)
  • Must have strong computer skills and feel comfortable learning new software programs
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Experience:

  • At least two years of prior experience as a medical biller (preferred)
  • Candidates must have at least a High School Diploma or GED
  • Education or coursework in medical coding is desired
  • Knowledge of medical billing and collection practices
  • Prior experience working with insurances/verifying insurance eligibility
  • Experience working with an EMR system (ChartMaker EMR/Billing software experience preferred)

Compensation:

Starting Salary: $19.00/ hour (32 to 39 hours/week) - Based on experience. You are paid bi-weekly via direct deposit.
