Position Title: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - Full Time (FT)

Reports to: Director, Laboratory

What You'll Do
- Properly collects & labels patient specimens for testing, collection of urine drug screens & Breath Alcohol according to Department of Transportation regulations. Verifies proper specimen, test, & patient ID & takes the necessary action to correct error.
- Performs wide range of clinical laboratory tests requested by medical staff for clinical diagnosis, patient screening, & monitoring of patient therapy. In accordance with established methodologies, technical reference, and internal procedure manuals.
- Performs preventative maintenance, periodic inspection, and troubleshooting on instruments & maintenance of technical records in accordance with manufacturer guidelines & internal policies. Contacts repair personnel when necessary.
- Evaluates patient test results for abnormalities & inconsistencies by using delta checks, able to answer moderate & waived complexity questions, methodology, test specificity & sensitivity, & specific factors in a prompt, professional, & courteous manner.
- Participates in evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory in terms of equipment, space, methods, cost analysis, and establishment of reference intervals. Reviews technical procedures annually.
What You Need:
- Associates Degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology OR the equivalent (60 hours from an accredited institution with a minimum of 24 hours in laboratory technology or related)
- Must have a broad knowledge of laboratory theory and procedure.
- Critical thinking, independent judgment, and responsibility to work with minimal technical supervision
