Member Support Specialist

Simply stated, the West Michigan Lakeshore Association of REALTORS® is a trade organization providing services to its
REALTOR® and Affiliate members, who then deal directly with the public. We are a “A Lakeshore Association dedicated to the growth of real estate professionals and the future of their communities.” The staff at WMLAR support one another and our members to elevate their success in their daily real estate businesses.

Responsibilities at a glance:

  • Be the main point of contact for members in person, phone and email. Assist them with questions on membership, real estate licensing, billing & payments, education offerings and class registrations in a professional, courteous, and accurate manner.
  • Answer and respond timely to phone calls, voicemail, and email inquiries.
  • Process new member applications, agent & office transfer forms, member updates and other paperwork dealing with members, companies, or MLS; Ensure member records are up to date in member management systems.
  • Identify commonly asked questions/issues; offer innovative solutions to address them, including but not limited to creating online resources, offering virtual trainings, etc.
  • Assist with collection of payments for Association dues and Multiple Listing Service fees; process receipts applying payments to member’s accounts and ensuring accurate record keeping.
  • Provide MLS technical phone support to MLS subscribers which includes responding to inquiries, interpreting

MLS rules and regulations, data integrity policies and procedures, and the resolution of any outstanding issues.

  • Verify the accuracy of the data in the MLS, making corrections as applicable.
  • Communicating and tracking MLS inaccuracies for compliance and/or issuing fines/penalties for noncompliance.
  • Identify commonly asked questions/issues; offer innovative solutions to address them.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organized self-starter with customer service and administrative expertise.
Candidate must be very articulate, easygoing, but very disciplined. This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week), benefits-eligible position with the opportunity for further professional development.

Basic Qualifications-

  • Motivation and skillset to deliver an A+ member service experience.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with strong attention to follow-up, follow-through, detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software/technology systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to work independently to troubleshoot issues and find solutions.
  • Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings.
  • Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Proven self-management abilities; capable of working independently while managing work time and prioritization of tasks.
  • Real estate knowledge or experience desired but not required.
  • Intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • For licensed brokers and salespersons: WMLAR policy prohibits licensed agents from actively practicing real

estate and receiving referral fees while being employee at our organization.

The position hours are 8:30AM – 4PM, Monday through Friday, in person at 12916 168th Ave. Grand Haven, MI 49417.
This is a weekly salaried position that includes paid, on the job training; Paid time off; and many more benefits.
